As every year, Lucca Comics & Games greets with open arms the Land of the Rising Sun within Lucca's City Walls, and in 2019 we're ready to do it with a lot of news.
Japan Live
Let's start with one of the latest news in Japan Town: Japan Live will have a new location with even more events about Japanese culture. A lot of different entertaining activities will be available: laboratories conducted by well-known cosplayers for beginners, interviews, idol performances, mouth-watering food and parades organised by groups and associations linked to your passions.
Events in collaboration with Japanese Institutions and Organisations
With the intention to integrate pop and traditional culture, the support of Japanese Institutions and Organisations for our festival is growing. The Japanese Embassy in Italy is organising meetings, conferences and activities, while the Japan National Tourism Organization is promoting their territory. Moreover, the Gruppo Studi Girard(Girard Studies Group), founded by Gianfranco Mormino, professor of the Philosophy Department of the University of Milan, will present an analysis of anime from an anthropological point of view, and the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs will host the Japan Media Art Festival.
Fan Art Exhibitions and community events
The Giardino degli Osservanti will take on a new look, hosting fan art celebrating the collective imagination. The Italian communities will be the stars of these exhibitions. The first one will honour one of the most beloved mecha of all times: Mazinger is celebrating its anniversary in Italy and the entire history of mecha will be on display.
Mangaka Contest
Japan Town couldn't come without the 7th edition of the Mangaka Contest, looking for the best Italian interpreters of Japanese manga. The announcement, with all the info needed to participate, will be soon online.
