The Rockets are a French band, very popular in Italy between the end of the 70’s and the beginning of the 80’s with many great hits, such as “Future Woman”, “Space Rock”, “One More Mission”, “Electric Delight”.
The cover of “On the Road Again”, an old song by the Canned Heat, was reinterpreted with their typical style and became a disco-psychedelic hit, selling a huge number of copies in the summer of 1978.
In 1980, their masterpiece “Galaxy”, a very ambitious concept album, received a huge commercial approval, also thanks to the main track called “Galactica”, played daily on the radio. The same year, the band also received a Telegatto prize for being the best foreign band in Italy.
The press has defined their style as “space-rock” for the sci-fi shades of the lyrics, for the electronic sounds and for their scenic appearance. Thanks to their silvery look and their tinsel suits, along with their unique voices, they look as if they came from another planet!
