The best emerging talents on the international “League of Legends” scene will meet in the Esports Cathedral: the brand-new ESL League of Legends Eurocup will stage its first final in the beautiful setting of the Church of San Romano.
The competition will be played in two phases consisting of an “Online Playoff” and the “Live Final”. The first phase will be held from 2 to 6 September: winners of the national championships of the territories or countries invited to take part in it will participate, teams will be divided into two groups of four and will play against each other in a GSL Bo3 format. The winner of each group, plus the winner of the challenge among the best second, will arrive at the “Live Final” in Lucca.
The “Live Final” will be held from 30 to 31 October, the format will be a single-elimination bracket played over two days: Bo3 in the semifinals and Bo5 in the grand final. Italy, as a host country, gains a direct invitation to the final with the other three teams that have managed to qualify Online: the winner of the Milan Games Week final, therefore, will go directly to Lucca Comics & Games.
The Cathedral of the Esports in Lucca – the theatre of this incredible and exciting show – will be a real deconsecrated medieval church: a stage like no others in the world to host the “Italian Esports Open” during Lucca Comics & Games.
