Gavin Verhey is the Senior Game Designer and Product Architect of “Magic: the Gathering”, for which he has already created countless cards and game mechanics.
Enfant Prodige of the most famous trading card game ever existed, Gavin surely skipped steps: at the age of 10, he already was a well-known player; the following year, he set his mind on becoming a card designer, a dream he kept pursuing even during college, where he used to pay the annual fees with the incomes from his Magic Pro Player career.
In 2011, he finally becomes part of Wizards of the Coast, playing a key role in the majority of the sets published ever since, starting with “Return to Ravnica”, particularly as regards the Commander and Modern formats. Just to mention some of his works, Gavin was in charge of the creation of Battlebond, Commander 2017, Commander 2018, Commander 2019, the Challenger Decks, the Brawl Decks and many other decks yet to be announced: among them, “Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths”, which will be published in mid-2020.
Gavin strongly believes that “Magic” would be nothing without “The Gathering”, therefore its community is a constant focus in all of his work.
