The “Lucca Junior” Contest follow in the footsteps of Livio Sossi, president of the Jury, who died last February. Therefore, the Prize for Editorial Illustration inaugurated this year, “Livio Sossi”, was called after him.
The transformation of the contest is not just about the name. According to the new regulation, the participants must submit a complete draft for an illustrated book, based on a given text. As a reward for the winner, the book will be published by the partner editor Kite Edizioni. The contest was opened to artists of any nationality, origin and residency, with no age restriction.
The 33 most interesting illustrations, selected by the jury among the 331 projects in competition, will be part of an exhibition at the Lucca Junior section (former Real Collegio).
In this exhibition you will see how each artist interpreted the same text using different graphic and compositional solutions, different characters as well as different techniques.
A special thank you to Kite Edizioni, editorial partner of the project, to Book on a Tree, to Associazione Autori di Immagini, to Wacom and to the Jury of the competition: Paolo D’Altan (president), Davide Calì, Valentina Mai and Arianna Papini.
The entry is free during Lucca Comics & Games 2019.
