Armand Baltazar, born in Chicago in 1967, was an artist and senior designer for Dreamworks, Walt Disney and Pixar, who had been working for many years on famous movies such as “The Prince of Egypt”, “Cars 2”, “Spirit-stallion of the Cimarron”, “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas”, “Flushed Away” and “A Christmas Carrol”. Later on, he left Pixar in order to dedicate himself entirely to the creation of the trilogy Timeless.
The first book of the trilogy, “Diego and the Rangers of the Vastatlantic”, was released in Italy just a few months ago, but it is already popular for its plot, setting and the over 600 colour illustrations. Baltazar was inspired by a small Lego robot built by his son. In Timeless, after the Time Collision, the historical eras are mixed and the continents reshaped, dinosaurs walk next to herds of buffalos and robots sail beside steamboats. Diego Ribera, the protagonist, is thirteen and lives in New Chicago.
Timeless was sold in 16 countries and Fox bought the cinematographic rights to release a movie produced by Ridley Scott.
Armand Baltazar will be one of the guests of Lucca Comics and Games, in collaboration with Il Castoro. His works will be housed in a exhibition in Palazzo Ducale.
